The Landscape that Defined America

A unique state agency created to preserve the scenic, natural, historic, cultural and recreational resources of the Hudson Valley
Overview

The Hudson River Valley Greenway is a unique state agency created to assist with the development of a voluntary regional strategy for preserving scenic, natural, historic, cultural and recreational resources while encouraging compatible economic development and maintaining the tradition of home rule for land use decision making.
Through voluntary participation in the Greenway community planning program, communities in fourteen counties in the Hudson River Valley can receive technical assistance and funding for local land use planning projects which support the goals of the Greenway program.
