About
The Hudson River Valley Greenway is the managing entity of the Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area, which was created in 1996 to recognize and celebrate the importance of the region’s history to the nation.
The NHA stretches from Yonkers to Troy, including 250 communities in 10 counties boarding the Hudson River. Throughout the centuries, the region played a major role in the American Revolution, development of the nation’s commerce, creation of a distinctly American style of art, Underground Railroad, Women’s suffrage, and environmental movement. Today, the impact of these movements can be explored at over a hundred of sites across the Hudson River Valley.
The NHA is proud to support historic sites and organizations sharing the Hudson River Valley’s stories with Heritage Development Grants and Event Sponsorships in partnership with local, state, and federal officials.
Ramble
The Hudson River Valley Ramble is the NHA’s signature program designed to drive tourism in the region. It is a month-long event series that celebrates the NHA’s heritage sites and vast trail system with a wide range of partner-hosted events, including historic site tours, hikes, bike rides, and paddles.
In 2025, the region welcomed thousands of visitors by collectively hosting 179 events.
